Have you ever wanted to ride your bike through some of the most beautiful locations in the United States? Wouldn’t that experience be even better if you could raise money for a great cause along the way? Well, now you can!
Whether you want to ride 20 miles or 500 miles, take a look at the RideForPKD route maps below and fill out the contact form to let us know what segment or segments (as indicated by the starting and finishing towns) you’re interested in tagging along for!
At various fundraising levels, riders will receive custom cycling gear including water bottles, socks, jerseys, bib shorts, and more!
All committed riders will get their very own event page on the PKD Foundation site that will support them in raising money from their networks.
Riders will need to be mostly self-supported, as RideForPKD will make helpful suggestions but does not have dedicated staff to support riders.
RideForPKD will provide some level of modest support for Riders with:
Turn-by-turn RidewithGPS mapping for all selected segments
Recommendations for accommodations for overnight segments
Bike shop information along the route
Carrying gear in the RV from start to stop points each day

As one might imagine, the magnitude of planning and executing a 4-month cross-country ride is enormous and requires a solid combination of volunteer and paid resources to make RideForPKD a success.
As a reminder, 100% of every dollar donated to RideForPKD goes directly to The PKD Foundation to fund critically needed research grants into the mechanism of the disease and potential treatments and cures.
All of the costs for planning and supporting RideForPKD are intended to come from sponsorship dollars. The top five costs to plan and support the RideForPKD are marketing/digital media, RV/support vehicle costs, donor/promotional giveaways (ties to fundraising), support staff, and logistics for volunteer drivers.
RideForPKD, LLC was established in 2021, as a registered non-profit, specifically to accept sponsorship dollars that go directly to the PKD Foundation, a portion will be used to offset costs of the Ride (subject to the Foundation’s policies), and the remainder goes directly to the Foundation’s research program.
RideForPKD is open for any organization or business to provide sponsorship funding. With that said, there are certain characteristics that make companies a strong fit as they align with the mission of RideForPKD including companies with:
A strong history with Glenn Frommer as an individual or as a leader
A connection to PKD advocacy, research, or support
A connection to kidney disease in general, including drug development, research, organ transplantation, dialysis, or other support services
A connection with cycling including manufacturers or retailers for bikes, bike components, bike accessories, gear, trip planning, or trip hosting
A connection with sports nutrition, including foods, hydration, or performance supplements
Sponsors of the ride will be supporting research programs for this worthy cause to help the 600,000 Americans currently afflicted with PKD, and those who will inherit this disease from them, to better understand the causes of the disease, manage their symptoms, and hopefully, one day, be cured of the disease.
Sponsors will gain access to a large and diverse community that is following the ride — email subscribers, social media followers, press release readers, local newspaper subscribers, and national media coverage — totaling more than 100,000 people as of today...and growing! Over the course of the ride, we expect to reach more than 1 million people.
The ride’s digital presence and fundraising launched September of 2021 and will continue to expand throughout the planning stages, the start of the ride in May 2022, and for the entire 4 months of the ride until the end in September 2022. That’s 13 months of opportunities for sponsors to connect with the huge number of people following the ride and donating to the cause.
Lastly, Glenn Frommer has worked in industry over the last 40 years as a leader for large multi-national and private equity-backed companies. These connections are all actively targeted as followers and supporters of the ride make this cohort of high-net-worth individuals an attractive target for Sponsors.
If you’re interested in sponsoring RideForPKD, you’ve come to the right place! We are happy to provide you with further information and details about sponsorship opportunities. We invite you to get in touch with Glenn to learn more about what it means to be a sponsor, what you get, and how it will benefit you and your organization.
